How To Fight Anxiety!
...............................................................................................................................................................................
Has fear and anxiety trapped you to the point where it has hindered your daily life? The Bible says in Psalm 27:1, ”God is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?” Only when we know the truth about fear can we really experience freedom from fear. Here are some practical ways to end the cycle of fear and anxiety.
Fight Fear With Faith
First of all, it is important to understand that faith and fear are opposites, and they cannot co-exist. Fear is the absence of security, or simply put, fear is doubt. In contrast, faith is security or complete trust in God as stated in Hebrews 11:1.
Faith:
* Moves
* Sets You Free
* Motivates
* Heals
Therefore, it is necessary to attack fear with faith. Jesus commanded us in the new testament to “fear not.” It is not an option to “fear not,” it is a command. How do I attack fear with faith?
1. Believe in Christ. Jn. 1:12
2. Know that Jesus has already given us freedom from fear. Heb. 2:14-15
3. Know that fear is not ours. 2 Tim. 1:7; Rom. 8:15
Always remember that in Christ, your future is secure. Understand your position as a child of God, and don’t let the enemy cast doubt on you future.
Fight Fear With Words
Have you ever been on a roller coaster? I still remember my first roller coaster ride, The Cyclone at Astro World in Houston, TX. The first climb calmed my nerves and I thought to myself, “this isn’t so bad.” As the coaster approached the first drop, I turned behind me to admire the Astrodome. When I turned back I felt the ugliest sensation in my stomach as we dropped down the first slope at sixty miles an hour. How did I react? I screamed at the top of my lungs, naturally.
God has given us a natural reaction to fight fear. When we speak, or scream, our body listens! The Bible says in the power of life or death is in our tongue. We can either let our mind wonder into the unknown and the “what ifs” of life, or we can speak life, right here, right now. Pslams 27 says, “God is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear!” Psalms 23 declares that God is our shepherd. He watches over us, all the time.
It is important to memorize scripture and repeat it to ourselves. It is a great reminder that God is always in control. Here is a list of Bible verses that will help you fight fear.
* Psalms 23:1,4
* Psalms 27:1
* Psalms 46:1
* Psalms 91:1
* 2 Tim. 1:7
* 1 Jn. 4:4
* 1 Jn. 4:18
God never gave us permission to be fearful. His word to us today is, "fear not." He has given you the ability to fight fear with faith and words. The next time the enemy wants to paralyze you, remember "God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
